El Museo de Arte de Lima se complace en anunciar que en su más reciente Asamblea General de Asociados llevada a cabo el 25 de noviembre de este año se anunció el nombramiento de Sharon Lerner como la nueva Directora del Museo de Arte de Lima. Este nombramiento se da en el marco de la reapertura del museo y de las salas de exhibición de su colección, luego de dos años de estar cerradas al público.

Sharon Lerner ha trabajado en el MALI por una década. Fue Curadora de Arte Contemporáneo entre 2012 y 2019, Curadora en Jefe del Museo entre junio y diciembre de 2021, y asumirá el cargo de Directora oficialmente a partir de enero de 2022.

Lerner asume el nuevo cargo y el reto de guiar a la institución en esta nueva etapa de la mano de una plana curatorial de reconocidos profesionales comprometidos con el museo.

Sobre Sharon Lerner

Sharon Lerner fue Curadora de Arte Contemporáneo del MALI entre 2012 y 2019 y Curadora en Jefe del Museo de la misma institución  Arte de Lima – MALI entre junio y diciembre de 2021. Obtuvo su maestría en Práctica de Curaduría en el California College of the Arts  de San Francisco (2010).

En el 2010 obtuvo el 101 Curatorial Fellowship del Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts y paralelamente se desempeñó como investigadora para la Kadist Art Foundation en San Francisco, EEUU. Ha editado el libro Arte contemporáneo. Colección Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI, 2013), así como catálogos sobre la obra de Armando Andrade Tudela, Fernando Bedoya, Johanna Hamann, Alejandro Alayza, Emilio Rodríguez Larraín y Jorge Eduardo Eielson.

En 2015 integró el equipo curatorial del 3er Encuentro de Medellín (MED15). Entre 2015 y 2017 formó parte del equipo curatorial para el proyecto “Memories of Underdevelopment“, organizado por el Museum of Contemporary Art de San Diego, el MALI, el Museo Jumex de México, de y la Getty Foundation. En 2019 realizó la sección de artistas del Perú como país invitado en ARCOmadrid.

MUSEO DE ARTE DE LIMA – MALI ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF SHARON LERNER AS NEW DIRECTOR OF THE INSTITUTION

Museo de Arte de Lima – MALI is pleased to announce the appointment of Sharon Lerner as new Director of the museum. The decision was ratified in the latest General Assembly of Associates on December 5th. This designation takes place in the context of the reopening of the galleries that hold the museum’s collections, which were closed to the public for over two years. Lerner has worked at the MALI for almost a decade. She was Curator of Contemporary Art at the institution between 2012 and 2019, Chief Curator of the museum between June and December 2021 and will officially assume the Direction in January 2022. Lerner assumes the new position and the challenge of guiding the institution in a new period, along with a curatorial team committed to the museum and its mission.

About Sharon Lerner
Sharon Lerner was MALI’s Contemporary Curator between 2012 y 2019 and Chief Curator of the Institution between June and December 2021. She obtained an MA in Curatorial Practice by the California College of the Arts in San Francisco (2010). In 2010 she obtained the 101 Curatorial Fellowship of the Wattis Institute of Contemporary Arts and in parallel developed research for the Kadist Art Foundation in San Francisco, US. At MALI she has curated over twenty exhibitions and has been in charge of publications such as Arte contemporáneo. Colección Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI, 2013), as well as catalogues on the work of artists Armando Andrade Tudela, Fernando Bedoya, Emilio Rodríguez Larraín, Jorge Eduardo Eielson, Johanna Hamann and Alejandro Alayza at the ICPNA. In 2015 she took part of the curatorial team in charge of the 3er Encuentro de Medellín (MED15). Between 2015 and 2017 she took part of the curatorial team in charge of “Memories of Underdevelopment“, a project organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the MALI, Museo Jumex in Mexico in the frame of the Pacific Standard Time Los Angeles/Latin America launched by the Getty Foundation. In 2019 Lerner was the curator in charge of the selection of the artists that represented Peru as a guest country in ARCOmadrid.
