Vision

The Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI) offers the public the opportunity to engage with Peruvian artistic production from increasingly broad and diverse perspectives. As an institution that houses a panoramic collection of Peruvian art across time, MALI seeks to be a collaborative and interdisciplinary platform for art and culture—one rooted in the local context yet operating with regional and even global reach.

MALI promotes new readings of the history of art in Peru through scholarly research and its expression in exhibitions, publications, and a wide range of public and educational programs. These efforts support its central objective: the preservation of local memory and the expansion of access to and enjoyment of the arts, fostering reflection on a shared history, the formation of more informed citizens, and the development of a sensitive and engaged public sphere.

MALI’s unwavering commitment to embracing the complexity and diversity of the Peruvian experience—from grand narratives to intimate stories—constitutes its greatest strength. It aspires to be a space from which to imagine and build a more equitable country, a meeting point where the collective efforts of society can converge.
