Collections and Archive

The Museo de Arte de Lima houses the most representative collection of Peruvian art history. Its vast holdings, spanning several centuries of cultural transformation, include Pre-Columbian, Colonial, Republican, and Contemporary works, as well as an important specialized documentary archive that promotes research and preservation.

Our collections aim to open new perspectives on Peruvian art history through academic research and public dissemination, offering audiences the opportunity to explore Peruvian artistic production from increasingly broad and diverse viewpoints. This panoramic collection of Peruvian art across time seeks to serve as a collaborative and interdisciplinary platform for art and culture, rooted in local identity while operating regionally and even globally.

The museum’s primary goal is the preservation of local memory and the expansion of access to the arts and their enjoyment, contributing to reflection on a shared history, the formation of more engaged citizens, and a sensitive public sphere. MALI’s unwavering commitment to preserving the legacy of a reality as diverse as Peru’s—from grand narratives to the smallest stories—is its greatest strength, making it a space from which to foster a more equitable society, and a point where the collective efforts of the entire community can converge.
